Rumours Persist Over Game's Delay
Rumours persist that Fumito Ueda, creator of the Playstation 3 exclusive The Last Guardian, may have left Sony leading to delays in the game's completion.
According to Eurogamer fans of Ueda's previous games, Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus can take comfort in knowing that Ueda is also said to be working with team Ico on a freelance basis to ensure the completion of their latest project The Last Guardian.
The game was delayed in April this year when Ueda issued a statement via the Playstation Blog announcing that The Last Guardian would not appear in 2011:
"I announced at last year’s Tokyo Game Show that the release timing of The Last Guardian which is currently being developed would be holiday 2011.
However, to provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfil First Party Studio’s obligations, I decided to postpone its release timing."
The game centres around the familiar theme of a young boy attempting to escape from vast, ageing ruins in a scenario that will see players tackling platform and puzzle sections. Also making an appearance will be at least one intimidatingly large creature reminiscent of those inhabiting Shadow Of The Colossus, by way of the Guardian featured in the game's title.
As yet Udea's departure from Sony remains a rumour and The Last Guardian is still set to make it's appearance in 2012, however no final date has been set.
